Enchanted Garden, 2006
In 2006 four of my friends and I founded Art Tarts with the aim of creating unusual, exciting and engaging art works into new, non-traditional places. Our ethos was that art should be for all and if created with the audience in mind, can have a positive impact of those that it reaches. Working with the theme of enchantment I wanted to bring the inanimate to life and so I created this installation, a string of lit up umbrellas leading to a shed, whereupon an opening revealed there to be a solitary black umbrella spinning on its handle. Many were tricked by the illusion and left pondering what kind of magical tinkering had occurred in this shed and to whom did it belong...
